Our vendors are the heart and soul of the Winter Farmers’ Market! Take a moment to learn more about an area family providing healthy Mediterranean food for the community!
From the Aleka’s Kitchen Website:
The Tsioulos family established Aleka’s Kitchen, Authentic Greek Cuisine & Gourmet Pastries in 2007 to offer quality Greek cuisine in the U.S. We have been offering gourmet pastries and authentic Greek dishes at the Sheboygan, Elkhart Lake, West Bend and Fox Point farmers’ markets and recently expanded the business to cater private parties, events and prepared family style meals for the home. We also offer seasonal small classes to educate people how to cook in the traditional Greek way using whole foods from scratch. We are happy to be part of the local economy by purchasing our ingredients from area farmers and in turn providing wholesome alternatives to mass produced foods.
Aleka Tsioulos was born and raised in Koroni, Messenia, Greece, right on the Mediterranean Sea. Her village is just 45 minutes southwest of Kalamata, the area made famous from its delicious olives. These same olives and olive oil she used in Greece 38 years ago are used today in her kitchen in the U.S. She immigrated here in 1973 and now lives right on Lake Michigan in Sheboygan, WI. Aleka has held on tightly to her Greek traditions mainly through her recipes which were handed down to her from her mother and her mothers mother and so on. These recipes contain centuries of stories, struggles, perseverance, freedom, love, family and celebration. The food is the essence of Greek culture and it is Aleka’s wish that you experience the timelessness of each exquisite bite. A healthy life is a happy life and the Mediterranean diet is renown for using natural whole ingredients to create its delicious cuisine.
