Transition Ozaukee and PortFish, Ltd will sponsor the 6th Annual Sustainability Fair on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church at 131 N. Webster St. in Port Washington – same great place where the Winter-Spring Farmers’ Market happens!
The theme of this year’s Fair will be “The Economics of Happiness” – focusing on the need to establish and support a strong local economy. The Economics of Happiness, a documentary film by the International Society for Ecology & Culture (ISEC) about the worldwide movement for economic localization, will be screened at the fair. The documentary describes a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions: government and Big Business continue to promote globalization and the consolidation of corporate power, while communities are coming together to re‐build more human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm ‐ an economics of localization. The film is sponsored by Renew Port Holdings.
The Fair will also feature a variety of local, independent businesses, a silent auction, a play of The Lorax by Dr. Suess (back by popular demand and featuring homeschoolers from Ozaukee Co.), a children’s table, local food and more!
Also, as part of the Mission 4/1 Earth, First Congregational Church is hosting Legacy Recycling, who will take just about anything that requires batteries or plugs in from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Sustainability Fair is free and open to the public! For more information, see the Transition Ozaukee website or contact Mary Boyle at firstname.lastname@example.org or (262) 573-6678.
